Sony Xperia "NXT" Smartphones


Sony initially launched the Xperia NXT series with the Sony Xperia S. It now adds two new smartphones to the series, namely, Xperia 'P' and Xperia 'U'. According to the Sony's Website :
The OS present in all of the 3 devices is the same :
  • All of them run Google's Android 2.3 OS [Gingerbread]
  • Can be upgraded to 4.0 [Ice Cream Sandwich]


Xperia S :

This device has the best hardware compared to the other devices in the NXT series.

Processor - 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Dual Core processor

Camera - 12.1 Megapixel Camera with Auto Focus, 16X Digital Zoom, LED Flash

Screen - 4.3 inch scratch-resistant TFT touch screen, 16 million colors, 1280*720 pixels

Battery - Talk time : 8 Hours 30 Min, Standby : 420 Hours, Music on : 25 Hours

OS - Google's Android 2.3 [ Gingerbread ] can be upgraded to Android 4.0 [ Ice Cream Sandwich ]

This Device weighs 144 grams.

Xperia P : 
The hardware is slightly less powerful to the Xperia S.

Processor - 1 GHz U8500 Dual Core processor

Camera - 8 Megapixel Camera with Auto Focus, 8X Digital Zoom, LED Flash

Screen - 4 inch scratch-resistant TFT touch screen, 16 million colors, 960*540 pixels

Battery - Talk time : 6 Hours, Standby : 475 Hours, Music on : 80 Hours

OS - Google's Android 2.3 [ Gingerbread ] can be upgraded to Android 4.0 [ Ice Cream Sandwich ]

This Device weighs 120 grams.

Xperia U :
The least powerful hardware in the NXT series, but still pretty powerful compared to the smartphones outside the NXT series.

Processor - 1 GHz STE U8500 Dual Core processor

Camera - 5 Megapixel Camera with Auto Focus, 16X Digital Zoom, LED Flash

Screen - 3.5 inch scratch-resistant TFT touch screen, 16 million colors, 854*480 pixels

Battery - Talk time : 6 Hours 36 minutes, Standby : 472 Hours, Music on : 45 Hours

OS - Google's Android 2.3 [ Gingerbread ] can be upgraded to Android 4.0 [ Ice Cream Sandwich ]

Sony's SmartWatch
This Device weighs 110 grams.

Sony SmartWatch :
Additionally Sony even launches a device called 'Smartwatch'. As the name suggests its basically a watch powered by Google's Android OS.  Brief Specifications of the so called 'Smartwatch' :
  • The main unit weighs 15.5 g
  • Dimensions of the watch are 36mm x 36mm, the thickness is 8mm
  • Multi-touch OLED Screen
As far as i know the price of this device should be somewhere around $149...

Sony Tablet S - One Of The Best Android Tablets

Although Sony being a late entrant in Tablet market, Sony is trying to top the tablet market with the launch of it two new tablets, namely the Tablet S and the Tablet P.
The Sony Tablet S features a 23.87 cms wide Touch-Screen.
It has 1GB of RAM which gives it a slight advantage compared to IPad and IPad 2 which have 256 MB and 512MB respectively.
It has storage up to 32GB. It even has an infra-red remote control.
It also has WiFi and optional 3G making it a tough contender of the IPad.
It also features the latest Android 3.2 operating system.
You can even capture stunning pics with its 5MP rear camera. It even has a front camera.
Being Playstation certified tt is packed with full of entertainment.
